Woman Attempts To Drive Over A Police Officer (It Ends Badly)

Police Body Camera Footage via Blendon Township

Police responded to an incident involving 21-year-old Ta’Kiya Young who allegedly shoplifted at a Kroger in the suburb of Blendon Township in Westerville, Ohio.

Body camera footage was released to the public of the incident. Police opened fire on Young as she attempted to drive an officer over with her vehicle.

Young, who was pregnant at the time, was the mother of two children. Her unborn daughter did not survive.

Police have issued a public response that the shooting was justified as video footage shows the vehicle purposefully accelerating at an officer as she was being approached.

In the video, a Kroger employee asks the officers for help regarding several people had stolen items from the store.

The employee then points the officers to Young, who was sitting “in a Lexus sedan with no license tags parked in a handicapped spot right in front of the store.”

The officers approached the black Lexus and instructed Young to get out of the vehicle.

Instead of complying with the officer’s orders, Young screams back, “What? Are you going to shoot me?”

At that point, she remains noncompliant, puts the car into gear, and accelerates at the officers.

The police chief explained, “The officer who was directly in the path of the oncoming car fired one shot through the front windshield.”

“The body camera footage I’ve reviewed also confirms the officer was directly in the path of the car.”

“The video seems to confirm that explanation as it appears to show the officer at the front of the vehicle being dragged several feet, then firing a single shot through the windshield,” Fox News reported.

“The video shows the car continuing for about 50 feet before it stops at the front of the building,” the report founded.

Both officers race after the vehicle on foot and hit the window in order to gain access into the vehicle.

Young appears slumped over in the vehicle. The names of the two officers have not been released.
