Legend Bruce Springsteen will be postponing the remainder of his September performances due to a battle with a gastrointestinal disease.

Springsteen announced he will be halting future tour dates, as he is currently undergoing treatment for what is known as peptic ulcer disease.

In a recent post, Bruce said he’s been encouraged by medical professionals to slow down and put off the shows. (Trending: Joe Biden Decides Whether to Wear A Mask Again)

According to the Mayo Clinic, if left untreated, peptic ulcers can cause the following:

“Internal bleeding. Bleeding can occur as slow blood loss that leads to anemia or as severe blood loss that may require hospitalization or a blood transfusion. Severe blood loss may cause black or bloody vomit or black or bloody stools.

A hole (perforation) in your stomach wall. Peptic ulcers can eat a hole through (perforate) the wall of your stomach or small intestine, putting you at risk of serious infection of your abdominal cavity (peritonitis). (Trending: Why Joe Biden Must Be Impeached)

Obstruction. Peptic ulcers can block passage of food through the digestive tract, causing you to become full easily, to vomit and to lose weight either through swelling from inflammation or through scarring.

Gastric cancer. Studies have shown that people infected with H. pylori have an increased risk of gastric cancer.”

Springsteen and the E Street Band cancelled a show this past Thursday in NY, as well as upcoming performances in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Ohio, and Washington D.C.

When asked about the postponed shows, Bruce said, “Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows.”

“First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support.” (Trending: Popular Chain Caught Sponsoring Youth Drag Show)

“We’ve been having a blast at our U.S. shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon. Love and God bless all.”
