‘You Broke It, You Bought It!’ Republican Sums Up NYC Sanctuary Policy Problem

Nick LaLota Laments Impacts Of Current Border Policy And Impacts Beyond Border States | via Forbes

A Long Island Republican Representative has blamed the growing issue of illegal immigration in New York on the city’s sanctuary policies.

Rep Nick LaLota pushed for Trump-like border policies of low tolerance, and said taxpayers “should not be forced to send one penny to NYC.”

LaLota also stated that Long Island had “rejected” the failing policies, and “should not be stuck with the financial, education and public safety costs of their self-created crisis.”

NYC's sanctuary policies have helped cause NYC's migrant crisis.

LaLota, a member of the Homeland Security Committee, said the crisis “is the result of poor policy choices.”

He then pushed for Mayor Eric Adams and the Governor to “repeal their sanctuary laws,” and for the White House to “secure the border and reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy.”

Trump’s Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), also identified as the “Remain in Mexico” policy, required migrants be deported back to Mexico throughout the course of their asylum hearings. (Trending: Megyn Kelly Reveals Medical Diagnosis After Getting Jab)

LaLota finished by stating that America’s taxpaying citizens “should not be forced to send one penny to NYC” and that Long Islanders “should not be made to shoulder any financial, education or public safety burden until these conditions are met.”

During Trump’s presidency, MPP put and end to Catch and Release, and kept asylum seekers in Mexico until progress had been made per each individual.

As of last summer, more than 70 percent of asylum claims were found to be invalid, and those seekers deported.

The Biden administration prefers a Catch and Release strategy, however, that has now resulted in millions of illegal immigrants overwhelming communities around the nation. (Trending: TV Host Blows Trump Case Wide Open)

Siena College released a poll recently that exposed a telling statistic:

82% of those who live in New York see the migrant crisis as a major concern, and more than 50 percent view it as an “extremely serious issue.”
