Obama Gifts Hamas A Ready-Made Excuse

via CBS

Leftist critics of Israel are accused of playing the oppressor card while simultaneously acknowledging Israel’s right to defend itself.

Former President Barack Obama is criticized for his narrative that portrays Israel as an oppressor while condemning Hamas.

Obama suggests that Israel should not attack Gaza due to potential civilian casualties, without providing a clear solution. (Poll: Did Joe Biden’s Failures Lead to Hamas Attack? VOTE)

The article argues that failure to hold Hamas accountable would invite further attacks on Israeli civilians.

“But even as we support Israel, we should also be clear that how Israel prosecutes this fight against Hamas matters,” Obama said.

“Any Israeli military strategy that ignores the human costs could ultimately backfire,” Obama said, giving Hamas terrorist an excuse to attack innocent civilians.

“Already, thousands of Palestinians have been killed in the bombing of Gaza, many of them children,” he lectured. “Hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes.”

Obama also highlights the displacement of Palestinians and the need to recognize their rights without being anti-Semitic.

“It means acknowledging that Palestinians have also lived in disputed territories for generations; that many of them were not only displaced when Israel was formed but continue to be forcibly displaced by a settler movement that too often has received tacit or explicit support from the Israeli government; that Palestinian leaders who’ve been willing to make concessions for a two-state solution have too often had little to show for their efforts; and that it is possible for people of good will to champion Palestinian rights and oppose certain Israeli government policies in the West Bank and Gaza without being anti-semitic.”

Obama’s stance lacks a clear plan of action.

In contrast, Israel has a specific plan to target known Hamas locations with its airstrikes and missiles.

In Gaza, the death toll climbed to 2,329 Palestinians killed and 9,714 wounded, according to Reuters. In the West Bank, 54 were recorded dead and 1,100 wounded since the conflict between Hamas and Israel started on Oct. 7.

Palestinian Hamas terrorist notoriously used their own people as human shields, including women and children. The terror group also kills Palestinians who attempt to flee.

This makes it incredibly difficult for Israel to defend itself while avoiding innocent casualties.

Israel has repeatedly warned innocent civilians, as well as women and children, to evacuate the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military is preparing tens of thousands of soldiers to capture Gaza City and destroy Hamas’ current leadership.

Three senior Israeli military officers outlined the unclassified details about the counterattack. IDF says its main goal is to destroy the top political and military hierarchy of Hamas.

The assault is expected to be Israel’s “biggest ground operation since it invaded Lebanon in 2006.”

This also the first time that Israel has attempted to capture land and at least briefly hold onto it since its invasion of Gaza in 2008.
