Kirby Walks Right Into Peter Doocy’s Trap

via MSNBC

During a press briefing, spokesperson John Kirby declined to label individuals making violent antisemitic threats in the country as ‘domestic terrorists’.

When asked directly if these individuals are considered domestic terrorists, Kirby responded cautiously, stating that it is a question better left to law enforcement and that he is not aware of any such characterization.

“Are the people in this country making violent anti-Semitic threats, are they domestic terrorists?” asked Doocy.

Kirby answered, “I don’t know that we’re classifying people as domestic terrorists for that.”

Adding, “That’s really a question better left to law enforcement. I’m not aware that there’s been such a characterization of that.”

This response has raised concerns and frustrations among many Americans who feel that the administration is not directly addressing the seriousness of anti-Semitic threats.

Senator Josh Hawley questioned Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas about a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee who made controversial social media posts praising terrorists.

Hawley presented examples of extreme rhetoric and asked Mayorkas if this was typical of DHS employees.

Sen. Hawley asked Mayorkas; “What about people who say things like, on October the seventh, ‘F Israel’ — I’m cleaning up the language here — ‘F Israel, the government and its military, are you ready for your downfall?’ People who say things like, ‘F Israel and any Jew who supports Israel. May your conscience haunt your dreams until your last breath. Palestine will be free one day. F apartheid Israel,’ This is pretty extreme rhetoric, don’t you think?”

Mayorkas denounced the question and stated that the employee in question was on administrative leave, but refused to comment further on the personnel matter.

“I’m sorry, this person works for the Department of Homeland Security, have you fired her?” asked Hawley of Mayorkas.

Mayorkas replied, “Your question to suggest that that is emblematic of the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security is despicable.

A visibly frustrated Hawley said, “Don’t come to this hearing room when Israel has been invaded and Jewish students are barricaded in libraries in this country and cannot be escorted out because they are threatened for their lives.”

Adding, “You have employees who are celebrating genocide, and you are saying it’s despicable for me to ask the question? Has she been fired?”

Mayorkas eventually admitted that the employee was on administrative leave.

Hawley criticized Mayorkas for not taking action and accused him of being disrespectful.
