Country music star Toby Keith has been battling stomach cancer and provided a recent update on his health. Since the fall of 2021, Keith has been receiving chemotherapy, radiation, and had undergone surgery.

Keith was touring at the time and canceled all future shows. This is the first photo that he’s shared of himself in roughly six months:

61-year-old Keith is seen smiling and wearing a CMN t-shirt, which supports children’s health at CMNhospitals.org. Keith wore a sticker on the back of his hand that says “All kids.”

The music star urged fans to donate to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. A number of celebrities have showed support for Keith, including former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman, Jake Owen, Drake White, NFL great Brett Favre, and Cody Alan.

Keith has released 20 studio albums, 12 compilation albums, 65 singles, and 43 music videos. He has sold over 40 million albums worldwide, making him one of the best-selling country music artists of all time.

Born in Clinton, Oklahoma in 1961, Keith began his music career in the early 1990s with his first single, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and was the most-played country song of the 1990s.

Keith has continued to release successful albums and singles throughout his career. He has won numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, and 10 American Country Music Awards. He has also been nominated for a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award.

In addition to his music career, Keith is also an actor. He has appeared in several films, including “The Longest Yard” (2005), “Beer for My Horses” (2008), and “The Angry Birds Movie 2” (2019). He has also starred in his own reality television series, “Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill” (2007-2011).

After over a year of battling stomach cancer, Keith surprised fans by going back on stage in a spontaneous “pop-up concert” that was unplanned.

Keith performed at two surprise pop-up shows at Hollywood Corners in Norman, Oklahoma. “Toby‘s first rehearsal turned into a 2 1/2 hour pop-up show. He sang all the hits plus the Bus Songs…Toby is back!,” a post on his official Facebook page read.

Hundreds of people were in attendance and the country star performed many of his hit songs including “Made in America,” “I Love This Bar” and “Dream Walking.”

Keith is still undergoing chemotherapy, but was “feeling pretty good.” Keith said he might “be out on the road this fall.”
