Country Music Star Tim McGraw Makes Major Admission

Tim McGraw interviewed on ExtraTV via FOX

Tim McGraw admitted to fans that he has struggled over the past 15 years with his sobriety.

Referring to his wife, Faith Hill, he said, “She’s always been my rock. She’s my rock in everything that I do. I don’t think I could stand up straight without leaning on her in everything that I do.”

56-year-old McGraw said his wife’s support has been unconditional. (POLL: Is Joe Biden Fit to be President? Vote Now)

“It is not a linear path,” he said. “There’s setbacks… there’s times you move forward and do great, and there’s times you set back.”

“And that’ll probably be a process throughout the rest of my life and something that I have to be diligent about … really continue to work at.”

McGraw says he’s been sober since 2008.

“It’s Your Love” was the first song that Hill and McGraw wrote together.

“We were very early in our relationship, and it was just something that really just brought us together in a way that I don’t know what else could have. And then I remember shooting the video. … Faith was pregnant with Gracie. That was just such a special time and a special moment, the beginning of a long relationship. I always look back on that as something that not only changed my musical world but changed my life.”

“It’s Your Love” won four Academy of Country Music Awards in 1997. (Trending: Disney Just Pulled A Bud Light)

McGraw has sold over 80 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He is known for his melodic heartfelt songs and sandy Southern twang. His hits include “Indian Outlaw,” “Live Like You Were Dying,” “Don’t Think Twice,” and “Humble and Kind.”

McGraw was born in Delhi, Louisiana, in 1967. He grew up believing that his stepfather, Horace Smith, was his father. However, at age 11, he discovered that his biological father was Tug McGraw, a Major League Baseball pitcher. The two men didn’t meet until Tim was 18 years old, but they eventually became close.

McGraw dropped out of college in 1989 to move to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in music. He signed a record deal with Curb Records in 1990 and released his debut album, Tim McGraw, in 1993. The album was not a commercial success, but his follow-up album, Not a Moment Too Soon, was a major hit. It was the biggest-selling country album of 1994 and the sixth best-selling album of the year in any genre.
