Fauci Is Back, And He’s Telling You to Mask Up Just Because He Says So

Dr. Anthony Fauci sits for an Interview via Columbia Public Health

Dr. Anthony Fauci has recently spoken up in regard to a new COVID variant that may be making its rounds.

While this variant is looking to create quite a stir, a recent study exposing the ineffectiveness of masking may create problems for pushing masks back onto the American people.

Recently on CNN, Fauci recognized that the data for mask effectiveness on a mass scale is weak, but believes it is still advantageous on an “individual basis.” As for exactly how he reconciles these two seemingly contradictory thoughts is still unclear to many.

The study currently in the spotlight is the Cochrane Study, or “Physical interventions to interrupt or reduce the spread of respiratory viruses.” Cochrane is known by many as the world’s most respected institution for evaluating health interventions.

Oxford epidemiologist Tom Jefferson stated, “The most rigorous and comprehensive analysis of scientific studies conducted on the efficacy of masks for reducing the spread of respiratory illnesses — including Covid-19 — was published late last month. Its conclusions were unambiguous.”

“There is just no evidence that they’ — masks — ‘make any difference,” he added.

Jefferson went on to say that wearing an N-95 mask rather than a surgical mask, “Makes no difference — none of it.” Rather, he stated that “policymakers,” and “the experts,” are “convinced by nonrandomized studies, flawed observational studies.”

When asked about this, Fauci responded to CNN’s Michael Smerconish with, “There’s no doubt that masks work.”

“Different studies give different percentages of advantage of wearing it,” Fauci added. “But there’s no doubt that the weight of the studies — and there have been many studies — indicate the benefit of wearing masks.

“When you’re talking about the effect on the epidemic or the pandemic as a whole, the data are less strong. But when you talk about as an individual basis of someone protecting themselves or protecting themselves from spreading it to others, there’s no doubt that there are many studies that show that there is an advantage.”

He went on to say, “we’re not talking about forcing anybody to do anything,” which for many Americans rings an all-too-familiar bell.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was less than impressed with Fauci’s reasoning behind his opinions on masks, and went on to say, “Fauci admits that masks don’t work for the public at large but still absurdly claims masks work on an individual basis. More subterfuge.”

While the Cochrane study seems another evident marker of the ineffectiveness of masking, CBS News warns that the new COVID variants may bring back mask mandates due to warnings by “experts.”

It appears as though Fauci and “the experts” may likely be a part of Americans’ lives yet again, as new mandates are pushed and studies dismissed.
