Speaker Johnson Responds To Being Called 2020 ‘Election Denier’

via CNBC Television

House Speaker Mike Johnson pushed back against being called an “election denier” during an interview with CBS’ Margaret Brennan.

He defended his support for a lawsuit seeking to overturn the 2020 election results, stating that the election violated the law due to changes in election laws in response to Covid.

Despite this, he acknowledged President Biden as the winner of the election.

Johnson said, “That’s nonsense.”

“Did you read the brief? Did you get a chance to read what we filed with the Supreme Court?” he asked

“President Biden was certified as the winner of the election, he took the oath of office, he’s been the president for three years,” declared Johnson.

“The Constitution was violated in the run up to the 2020 election, not always in bad faith, but in the aftermath of Covid, many states changed their election laws in ways that violated that plain language. That’s just a fact,” he added.
